Can’t establish a reliable data connection to the server

I am using android based Samsung’s Galaxy Pop CDMA (SCH-I559) cell phone. I was eager to connect to internet to access the Web on my cell phone. But, whenever I was accessing the web based apps (Play store, gmail, etc) on my cell phone, it asked for a Gmail credentials. I gave my Gmail credentials but it gave the error message “Can’t establish a reliable data connection to the server”

 

On Web, I searched about this problem. Results show the only solution is that “you need to reset the phone”. The problem with resetting the phone is that, you lose all the data. I found the solution in that you will not lose the data.

Firstly, I want to tell you, why phone displays such error when you tried to use apps. When you start your android phone first time then you need to configure the account with Gmail address. If you ignore that configuration then you will get the above message when you access the apps.

Note: I think, this trick may work on all android phone

To rectify the problem, you just access Youtube app from your android phone (But you need your Google credential attached to Youtube.com account. For that, on computer you login on Gmail and then on another tab open Youtube.com. You need to signin with Google credentials). Now go to Youtube App and login with Google credentials.

After you have signed in via the Youtube app, exit the Youtube app (without closing the app; by pressing the Home button) and go to the main Android Settings menu. Then go to Accounts and sync. In Accounts and sync, you will see email id that you used to login in Youtube app; tap on that account. After the account has been brought up, check the checkbox for Sync Contacts or Sync Gmail, this will synchronies Google account.

 

Now, you can tap on Gmail or Play store app, it will automatically login in that app with Your Google account details.

It is very important to configure Google account, as per my experience. I have applied visible pattern to my cell phone. My little cousin drawn tried a lot wrong pattern and the visible pattern was trapped. I thought, I should have to update the phone’s firmware and I will lose my all data. There is one option, “Forgot pattern?”, but it ask Google credential but I thought it will not work because there is no data plan was activated on phone. But I entered the Google credentials and that was accepted and I got my phone’s desktop.

What does CE, FCC actually means?

When I was studying my graduation course, I bought a scientific calculator. There are some logos (CE, FCC) behind the calculator. One of my friends told me that CE means “China Electronics”, but my friend was wrong. Actually, meaning of that logos are very different.

Every country has some standards to trade a product in that country. If any company wants to sell a product in the market, then that product must follow that country’s product standards. If product follows the standard then that product can be traded in the country. European Union Countries follows CE (European Community), United States follows FCC (Federal Communications Commission), and China follows CCC (China Compulsory Certification).

Water Management – Today’s need for sustainable development

The basic needs of human being is food, apparel, and shelter. Even though these are the basic needs but human being cannot sustain/survive without water. Water is a small and very simple word (Pani – jal – neer) but it covers whole Earth. In science, water is known as H₂O, which is made up of 2 atoms of Hydrogen and 1 atom Oxygen but scientist cannot generate water molecule in laboratory till date. This means, for water, we have to be dependent  on natural sources. If we exploit the water as we are exploiting it today then one day the natural sources of water will be exhausted.

An importance of water is well-explained in our mythology. Water is mentioned numerous times in the Bible, for example: "The earth was formed out of water and by water" (NIV). In the Qur'an, it is stated that "Living things are made of water" and also it is often used to describe Paradise. In Sanskrit, the water word is synonymical for jivan (life). Also, in economics terminology water is phrased as Blue Gold.

 71% of the Earth's surface is covered by water.  Oceans hold 97% of surface water which is saline water, and only 3% is fresh water. Out of 3% of fresher water, 2.4 % is in the form of glaciers and polar ice caps, and other land surface water such as rivers, lakes and ponds is only 0.6%. This means, we only have 0.6% of total present water on the Earth.

India has 17% population compared to world. We have only 4% water and 2.5% land availability as compared to whole world. In Indian context, population-water-land ratio is very contradictory. Indian economy is developing stage, and water is very important indicator for growth of country.

United Nations declared that safe and clean drinking water is a human right. But according to UN’s WHO/UNICEF, 2005: 40 report, one of sixth people in world does not get safe drinking water to drink. United Nation’s report (2006) states that “there is enough water for everyone”, but the access (availability) of the water is hampered by mismanagement and corruption problems.

I want to point out one example of improper management and one proper management of water. Cherrapunji is known as wettest place in India which receives 11,777 mm rainfall, even though Cherrapunji is facing water scarcity problems. In contrast to that some places of Rajasthan state is getting low rainfall but the people learned the proper management techniques of water conservation and they are enjoying enough water for their use

80% of total water is consumed by agriculture sector and remaining 20% of water is used for drinking, industry, and etc. But agriculture sector contributes only about 23% to our GDP. This points out that, there is mismanagement in utilization of water in agriculture sector. Green revolution increased productivity but what about sustainable development? Will there be water to feed crops? As a largest stakeholders in water consumption, farmers of India can play crucial role in water management. By adopting advanced techniques for irrigation like drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, farm ponding, and etc.

Now-a-days monsoon is very irregular. Due to irregularity of monsoon, there are sometime lots of water but sometimes there is no water. But what about the areas who receive average rainfall? We get rain water in 4 months and we need to use that water for whole year. But are we storing/managing that water properly? No, we don’t. That’s why this water flows away and meets this fresh water to some sea (saline water).Due to global warming, polar glaciers are melting and increasing the sea water level. If we properly conserved rainwater in the earth which is flowing to the sea, then we can postpone the sea flooding effect(climate change).

I really appreciate the steps taken by the Indian government in the form of watershed management, river linking and irrigation projects. In 12th plan, the planning commission will have major focus on water management. Also, government is funding lots of money to NGO’s, to research and implement watershed management projects. 

When I was child, government started National Literacy Mission to literate Indian citizens. After that government started e-literacy (cyber-literacy), now time comes government should start mega-mission of water literacy (Jal Saksharata). Under this mission, government should aware people about proper water utilization and management.

In 2009, I attended Jal sahitya sambelan where I came across a buzz word (Jal Sakshar) that is very much important for sustainable development of the nation. Today, at least 5/6th of world’s population is getting safe drinking water but what about next generation? Will they get safe or unsafe water?

Like farmers, women can play critical role in proper management of water. I want to focus 2 main things for women. First, women have whole day relation with water. All women use water for every day’s household activates. If they critically understood the need of water management then they can save plenty of water by reducing the use of water and reusing it. And second, according to me, woman plays key role in teaching moral values to her children than man. Once I read an article in Lokmant’s Manthan supplement, that article is based on real story of woman from Nasik and her child (who was 8^th std. student). In that article, she said that, her child is average in education, but one day, when she was washing the dishes, he came and asked why are you wasting so much of water? She was wedged. By that incidence, that woman understands what wrong she was doing. Also she gave his 2-3 examples of recycling and littering. She feels proud for her child and she ends her article by saying “my child is not good at education but my child will become good citizen of our country”. In this example child taught her mother but if every woman is able to give such moral values to her children then at least next generation will not exploit such natural resources and use it critically.

American secret agency has given treat warning of war for water in next 10 years. I think that is why, visionary American president John F Kennedy said that the one who will solve the problem of water, that person should get 2 Nobel prizes – one is for science and other is for peace. Also in 1995 the World Bank Vice President Ismail Serageldin quoted the prediction for the new millennium: “If the wars of this century were fought for oil, the wars of the next century will be fought over water”.

NOTE: The World Bank predicts that by 2025 about two-thirds of the world’s population will suffer from scarcity of clean and safe water even for drinking purposes.

Vulnerability of Information Technology

Information Technology (IT) is playing great role in Web and internet development. Information Technology works beyond the borders of countries and cultures that is why; it made the world as a global village. With Web 2.0 and 3.0, we can share information but usually people share the things without authenticating. Such sharing indirectly spreads wrong knowledge to people. So such vulnerability in Information Technology is very dangerous for the community.

Here I am mentioning few examples of Information Technology vulnerability:

There is email forwards flooding around which claims that UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) has chosen the Indian National Anthem (Jana Gana Mana) as the best national anthem in the world. I confirmed this from various sources, like website of UNESCO and various news channel's website that, no such declaration made by UNESCO or any other organisation.

On Facebook, I came across two photographs of Gandhiji. In first photograph, Nathuram Godase is standing in front of Gandhiji before assassination and in second photograph, Gandhiji is dancing with a white lady. Both photographs looks like a genuine but thanks to Satrajit Choudhury who cleared that both photographs are not original. The detail explanatory analysis is given on Satrajit's post.

On social networking sites, most of people shares picture of small boy/girl mentioning that, this child has cancer and if you share this photograph then Facebook/Orkut are agreed to pay $1 to his parents for further treatment. Such claims are fake claims; no one pays for such sharing on social sites.

I am fed of emails saying that, this email came from ..... God, send this email to 10 people, if you ignore this email, you will get bad news, and if you send this email to 10 people then you will get good news. How can people believe such emails and keep sending to others?

Also, I got the email-picture stating that, Wikileaks released names of Indian people whose black money is in Swiss bank. I confirmed from Wikileaks's twitter page that, Wikileaks haven't published any such list.

There are many more examples of hoax news and fake photographs on Web like five headed snake, three headed snake, fake photograph of Osama Bin Laden, etc etc....

I came across three websites to confirm the news is fake or not.

You can search the news on Hoax-slayer.com and Urbanlegends.about.com to test the news is hoax or not. These websites analyse the news and publishes its detailed report regarding it. You can subscribe the email newsletters of the website in free of cost.

As we are becoming more and more digital, people are violating more and more copyright rules. Plagiarism is one of the big problem. People don’t understand the difference between copying and sharing. They thinks that everything on Web is free or freely distributable. That is why; I support SOPA and PIPA bills of US government.

No doubt, Information Technology has number of merits but we cannot and should not ignore "some" vulnerable things. Keep sharing with naked eyes.

Review of Aadhaar Card (UID) form: Bugs of Aadhaar card forms

When I brought an enrolment form to get Aadhaar card for me, I found some silly mistakes in Aadhaar card’s enrolment form, which I would like to share with you.

1.     To fill the address details there is an option to enter your village/town/city and district place, but there is no such provision to enter your Taluka (or tehsil). For giving the complete address details, Taluka is equally important

2.     This is the first form which I have ever seen without the signature of the applicant

3.      In this form, part ‘B’ is entitled as “Relation Details” and in Marathi it is entitled as “नातेवाईकांची माहीती”. In Marathi it is ok but in English it should be “Relationship Details”

4.     Part ‘B’ is entitled as “नातेवाईकांची माहीती”which is plural but there is only one column to fill the details of relationship

5.     Part ‘B’ is to be filled compulsory for children below age 5. To fill the relationship details of the child, options are given mother/father/wife/husband/guardian. If the child the below the age 5, how can the option husband/wife legally applicable to him or her?

6.     In part C, after Phone No./Mobile No., option is given to fill Email it is incorrect. Email means Electronic Mail, it should be Email ID.

There is one additional form with this form named as “Additional Information for Maharashtra Government”. This form is in Marathi language only which has number of uncountable mistakes. Here, I am mentioning few of them. In section 17, if boy/girl is “बालकामगार” this means the child is part time worker or full time worker. If the child is working part time or full time then how can that child go to school as a full time?  Section 19 takes educational details…………..

How can be this project become successful if the initial step towards the project is with so many mistakes? So, I request you to take all the above points into consideration and take some serious action at the earliest.

I sent this email to Prime minister, Nandan Nilkeni, Oposition leader of Lok sabha and Rajya sabha, CM of Maharashtra.....But no one has given attention to this issue.

खरच...प्रत्येक वेळेस सरकारच चुकत का?

आजकाल सरकारला दोष देण हे फँडच झालंय. फेसबुकच्या पोस्ट म्हणा की जीमेल चे इमेल्स म्हणा.....त्यात सरकारलाच दोष दिलेले असतात, आणि विशेष म्हणजे हे सर्व दोष सारासार विचार करून दिलेले नसतात. कारण आजकाल लोकांनी सदसद्विवेकबुद्धी वापरणच सोडलं आहे. जे ‘एका’ व्यक्ती ने लिहून प्रकाशित केल तेच शेअर केल जात. त्यातील माहिती खरी की खोटी हे सुद्धा पडताडून पहिली जात नाही. मी पण संगणक क्षेत्रात काम करतो पण मी ह्याला माहिती तंत्राद्यानाचा तोटा म्हणेन.

मी मान्य करतो की, सरकारकडून चुकीचेही निर्णय घेतले जातात पण नक्कीच सर्वच नाही! इथे मला हे ही नमूद करावेसे वाटते की सरकार काही कठोर निर्णय ही घेतात, ते कदाचित आपल्याला चुकीचे वाटू शकतात. आणि ते चुकीचे वाटणे हे स्वाभाविकच आहे कारण आपण इतके स्वार्थी झालो आहोत की आपल्याला फक्त आपल्या स्वार्थाच्याच गोष्टी लक्षात येतात, पण सरकारला सर्व घटकांचा विचार करावा लागतो. पण आपण याकडे लक्षच देत नाही.

पेट्रोल च्या किमती वाढल्या की बरेच लोक सरकारच्या विरोधात बोलताना दिसतात, फेसबुक किवा जीमेल वर पेट्रोल च्या किमती बद्दल चुकीची माहिती शेअर करतात, अशाच काही लोकांना मी विचारलं की पेट्रोलचे भाव कशामुळे वाढतात? पण त्यांच्याकडे माझे समाधान होईल असे उत्तर नव्हते. मी अशांना एकच सांगू इच्छितो की, जर आपल्याला गोष्टींची माहिती नसेल तर वायफळ बडबड कशाला करायची? मराठी भाषेत याला ‘पांडित्य’ म्हणतात. अशीच बरेच उदाहरण आहेत...मग ते लोकपाल बील असो वा परदेशी गुंतवणूकचा मुद्दा असो. आपल्याला सरकारला दोष देण्याची सवयच पडली आहे. मला मान्य आहे की, सरकार पेट्रोलवरील कर कमी करून पेट्रोलच्या किमती थोडया कमी करू शकते, पण याचा परिणाम जास्त दिवस टिकणार नाही, कारण पेट्रोलची कींमत कमी झाली की पेट्रोलची मागणी वाढेल तसेच मागणी आणि पुरवठा यात तुट वाढली की परत पेट्रोलचे भाव वाढतील कारण पेट्रोलचे भाव आंतरराष्ट्रीय बाजारपेठेत ठरतात.(कापूसच उदाहरण घ्या ना, चालू वर्षात कापूस चे भाव ३००० हून ८००० पर्यंत गेले) यात नुकसान कुणाच होईल? सरकारच! कारण काही दिवसांनी किमती परत जवळपास जशाच्या तशाच होतील आणि सरकारला कर मधून येणारे पैसे ही जातील मग सरकारला पैसे येणार कुठून? एका सोसॅकडून मिळालेल्या माहितीनुसार, भारतात फक्त ४.५% लोक इमानदारीने प्राप्तीकर भरतात. ही माहिती मी तपासली नाहीये पण हे प्रमाण थोड जास्त असल तरीही पूर्ण लोकसंखेच्या मानाने फार कमी आहे.जर अशी परिस्थिती असेल तर सरकार पेट्रोलच्या करातून देश चालवण्याकरता पैसे मिळवत असेल तर गैर काय?

मलेशियाचे माजी प्रंतप्रधान भारतात येऊन म्हणतात की, भारताने मुक्त व्यापार स्वीकारला आहे पण अजूनही काही क्षेत्र त्यांनी बंदिस्त करून ठेवलेत म्हणून चीनच्या तुलनेने भारताची प्रगती कमी होते, पण हे आपल्या देशातील विरोधी पक्ष आणि डाव्या ना कोण समजावेल?

६५ व्या स्वतंत्र दिनाच्या ध्वजवंदनाच्या दिन निमित्ताने केलेल्या भाषणात मु. जे. महाविद्यालाचे प्राचार्य राव सरांनी असे म्हटले होते की “स्वातंत्र मिळून आपल्याला ६५ वर्ष झालेत, आपण आता चांगले प्रगल्भ झालो आहोत, आता वेळ आली आहे की आपण अधिकार आणि हक्कानं पेक्षा कर्तव्याकडे लक्ष केंद्रित केले पाहिजे.” खरच सर, मलाही पटत, आज आपण इतके स्वार्थी झालो आहोत की आपण फक्त आपलाच विचार करतो, आपले अधिकार, आपले हक्क पण यात आपण आपले कर्तव्य विसरून चाललो आहोत. आपण हे विसरून चालले आहोत की आपल या देशाकडे, या धरतीमातेकडे, आपल्या धर्माकडे, आपल्या समाजाकडे काही दायित्व आहे. अमेरिकेतील लोकांना त्यांच्या अधिकार, हक्काबरोबर कर्तव्यांची ही जाणीव आहेत आणि ते तसे त्यांचे पालन करतात. आपण पाश्चिमात्य देशांकडून नेहमीच वाईट गोष्टी शिकतो पण त्यांच्याकडे अशा चांगल्या गोष्टी सुद्धा शिकण्यासारख्या आहेत.

जाता जाता.....

हा लेख लिह्ण्यामागे उद्देश होता की, आपण काहीही आणि कुणाविरुद्ध भाष्यकरण्या आधी हे तपासून घेतले पाहिजे की आपण जे भाष्य करतोय ते खरोखर बरोबर आहे का? तसेच आपण आपले कर्तव्येही जाणून घेतले पाहिजेत.

अण्णा आता पुरे झाले ना...अण्णांना एक खुले पत्र

मी इथे एक पक्षनिरपेक्ष म्हणून माझे मत मांडत आहे, यात माझा कोणताही राजकीय हेतू नाही. आजपर्यंत अण्णा सरकारला पत्र लिहून त्यांचे मत मांडत होते, आज मी असाच प्रयोग करून अण्णांना काही प्रश्न विचारणार आहे की ज्यांचा लोकांनीही विचार करायला पाहिजे.

अण्णा, तुमची स्वतःला सिव्हील सोसायटीचे प्रतिनिधी म्हणवून घेणारी टीम अण्णा, ही पण धुतल्या तांदळा सारखी स्वच्छ नाहीये. खालिल काही प्रश्न तुमच्या करता-

१.       एका खेड्या गावात, तुमच्या वाढदिवसाला झालेल्या अवाढव्य खर्चाच स्पष्टीकरण? जे तुम्ही दिलेलं स्पष्टीकरण अनाकलनिय आहे.

२.     तुमच्या संस्थेची नोदणी होण्यापूर्वीच तुम्ही संस्थेच्या नावावर निधी घेतला. हा गैरव्यवहार, भ्रष्टाचार नाही का?

३.     लोकपाल समितीवर झालेल्या सिव्हील सोसायटीच्या सदस्यांची नेमणूक जरा संशयास्पद वाटत नाही का? ‘भूषण’ पिता-पुत्रांची शिफारस तुम्हीच केली आणि नंतर म्हणतात की ‘भूषण’ कसे आहेत याची मी कशी काय ग्यारंटी कशी काय घेऊ? जर त्यांच्या चरित्राबद्दल(सर्व जगाला माहित आहेत पण) तुम्हाला माहित नसेल तर मग तुम्ही त्यांची शिफारस कशी काय करू शकतात? तुम्हीच म्हटले होते की ज्या व्यक्तीवर भ्रष्टचारचे आरोप असतील ते या समितीत नसतील मग ‘भूषण’ पिता-पुत्र आणि तुम्ही सुद्धा या समितीत कसे? तुम्ही तर स्वतः कबुल केलंय की तुम्हाला कायद्याच ज्ञान नाही, तरीपण तुम्ही समितीत?

४.     शांती भूषण आणि अमरसिंग यांच्या संभाषणाची सीडी खरी आहेत, असा फोरेन्सिक लँबोरेटोरीचा रिपोर्ट आला.आता याला काय उत्तर द्याल?की आताही अस म्हणाल, सरकार आमच्या सहकार्यांना फसवण्याचा प्रयत्न करत आहे?

५.    पहिले मोदी सरकारची कामाबद्दल तारीफ करतात, पण जेव्हा सहकारी दबाव टाकतात तेव्हा मोदी सरकार भ्रष्टाचारी आहेत असा आरोप लावतात. बहुतेक म्हणूनच तुम्हाला दुसरे गांधी म्हणतात.

६.      एकीकडे ३० जून पूर्वी मसुदा तयार करण्यासाठी सरकारवर दबाव टाकतात आणि दुसरीकडे रामदेव बाबा-रामलीला प्रकरणसाठी मिटींगवर बहिष्कार टाकतात.काय संबंध या २ ही बाबींचा? कपिल सिब्बल यांनी कडक शब्द वापरले तेव्हा तुम्ही वठणीवर आले. एवढंच नाही तर ९ जून च्या मिटींगला तुम्ही उपलब्ध नाही म्हणून ती मिटींग रद्द करायची विनंती केली. तुम्ही तर मुद्दाम हून हे सर्व करत तर नाहीये ना? जर ३० जून पर्यंत हा मसुदा तयार नाही झाला तर परत तुम्हीच सरकारला दोष द्यायला मोकळे.

७.    तुम्ही पब्लीसीटी म्हणून समितीतील सरकारी सदस्यांना खोटारडे आणि धोकेबाज बोलले, पण जेव्हा कपिल सिब्बल यांनी विचारले की सदस्य खोटारडे आणि धोकेबाज कसे? तेव्हा तुमच्याकडे काहीच उत्तर नव्हते. कपिल सिब्बलानी याच उत्तर बाहेरच्या पत्रकारांना द्या तर केजरीवाल बाहेर आल्यानंतर तर त्यांनी उत्तर देन सोडून जुनच रडगाण लावलं. जर तुम्हाला दुस-याना बदनाम करण्यात समाधान लाभात असेल तर ते जरा आवरा.

८.     तुम्ही सरकारवर दबाव आणून सर्व काम(कायदा) करण्याचा ज्या प्रयत्नाला तुम्ही लोकशाही म्हणवतात, पण तुम्ही संसदच्या सार्वभौमत्वावर दगा आणण्यासारखे आहे, असे नाही वाटत का तुम्हाला?

९.      काश्मीर प्रांत बद्दल वादग्रस्त भाष्य करणारे प्रशांत भूषण यांना माफ का केले?

१०.  किरण बेदी ची विमान तिकीट गैरव्यवहार आणि कम्पुटर ट्रेनिग गैरव्यवहार ही  गैरव्यवहाराची २ प्रकरण समोर आलीत, असे भ्रष्ट सहकारी चालतात कसे?

११.   माजी आय.आर्.एस. आणि मँग्सेसे पुरस्कार विजेते अरविंद केजरीवाल यांनी थकीत कर चे पैसे कुणाकडे परत करावे हे सुद्धा समजत नाही? ते आता एवढे मोठे झालेत की ते पैसे आपल्या सिनियर अधिकाऱ्याला न देता सरळ प्रंतप्रधानांन कडे पाठवतात.अशी अपेक्षा आहे का त्यांची की प्रंतप्रधानांनी त्यांचा थकीत कर भरावा.

१२.  अरविंद केजरीवाल तुम्हाला संसद पेक्षा मोठे म्हणतात तर ते संसदला कमी लेखून संसदचे सार्वभौमत्व हाणून पाडत आहेत, अस नाही वाटत तुम्हाला? मान्य आहे संसद जनतेसाठीच आहे पण तिचा तेवढा आदरही ठेवला गेला पाहिजे अस नाही वाटत तुम्हाला?

१३.  तुमच्या कोअर टीम मधील पी.व्ही. राजगोपाल आणि राजिंदरसिंग यांनी तुमची टीम सोडून गेले, कारण तुमच्या टीममध्ये लोकशाही पद्धतीने निर्णय होत नाही. यावर काय बोलाल? हिस्सार पोटनिवडणुकीच च उदाहरण घ्या ना. मिटींग मध्ये कोंग्रेस विरोधात प्रचार करण्याचा प्रस्ताव झालाच नाही तरीपण तुम्ही प्रेस मध्ये सांगतात की कोंग्रेस विरोधात प्रचार करणार. जेव्हा मेधा पाटकर नाराज झाल्यात आणि त्या म्हणतात की असा प्रस्तावच नाही झाला. मग नेहमी प्रमाणे तुम्ही कोलांटउडी घेतली की ते माझ वैयक्तिक मत होत. आणि आश्चर्य जेव्हा वाटल, मत तुमच होत आणि तुम्ही राळेगणसिद्धी मध्ये आणि तुमचे सहकारी अरविंद केजरीवाल आणि मनिष शिसोदिया हिस्सार मध्ये.

१४. राळेगणसिद्धी दारू पिणा-या ला आम्ही बदवडून काढतो आणि आमच्यात शिवाजींचे ही गुण आहेत असे म्हणणारे सैन्यातील जवान अण्णा, तुम्ही अहिंसक कसे?

१५. तुम्ही म्हणतात आत्मशुद्धी करता मौन व्रत करत आहे. पण राजू परुळेकर तर म्हणतात की अण्णांनी हिस्सारला न जाण्यासाठी हे व्रत केले (तसा त्यांनी पुरावाही सादर केला). पण मला हे ही समजले नाही की तुम्ही मौन व्रत सोडण्यासाठी राजघाटला का गेलात?ते तर तुम्ही राळेगणसिद्धीमध्येही सोडू शकले असते.

१६.  भ्रष्टाचाराचा सर्व राग आधी सरकारवर नंतर संसद वर नंतर कोंग्रेस वर. अस का? दुसरे लोक भ्रष्टाचारी नाहीत का?

यावर माझ निर्मळ मत अस की दुस-यावर आरोप करण्याआधी आपण किती स्वच्छ आहोत हे तपासून घ्याला पाहिजेत. बायबल मध्ये ही असच म्हटलं आहे की जर आपण मलीन असलो तर आपल्याला दुस-यांना खडे मारण्याचा अधिकार नाही.

सध्या प्रंतप्रधान आणि सरन्यायाधीशच्या मुद्द्यावरून वाद चालू आहे, त्यावर माझ मत अस की, प्रंतप्रधान हे लोकशाहीतील राजशिष्टाचारानुसार एक अतिमहत्वाच पद आहे. तसेच सरन्यायाधीश हे ही न्याय पालिकेतील सर्वोच्च पद आहे आणि या पदांचा मान हा राखलाच गेला पाहिजे. माझ्या मते प्रंतप्रधान आणि सरन्यायाधीश सुद्धा लोकपाल च्या कक्षेत यायला पाहीजे पण त्यांच्या विरुद्ध महाभियोग सारखी प्रक्रिया पारित झाल्या नंतरच. जर प्रंतप्रधान आणि सरन्यायाधीश सुद्धा लोकपालच्या कक्षेत आणल तर उद्या तर कुणीही आणि केव्हाही त्यांच्या वर आरोप करेन आणि त्यांना काम कारण अशक्य होऊन जाईल. जसे आता माहिती अधिकाराचा गैरवापर होऊन सरकारी अधिका-याना त्रास दिला जातो, असा गैरवापर लोकपाल बद्दल ही होऊ शकतो.

याबरोबरच माझे प्रामाणिक मत आहे की, ‘क’ आणि ‘ड’ दर्जाचे सुद्धा कर्मचारी लोकपाल सोडून दुस-या कोणाच्यातरी(लोकायुक्य किंवा दुसरा पर्याय) नियंत्रणखाली यायला हवेत, कारण सामान्य लोकांना याच दर्जाच्या लोकांपासून त्रास होतो. लोकपालच्या च्या नियंत्रणा खाली सर्वाना आणणे कठीण जाईल, तसेच सी.बी.आय. इतकीच प्रभावी सरकारी यंत्रणा लोकपाल सोबत असावी. ह्या दोन गोष्टी सोडून जर तुमच्या म्हणण्यानुसार जर लोकापालाचे कार्यक्षेत्र ठरवलं तर तुम्ही लोकशाहीत हुकूमशहा करता जागा तयार करत आहे, की जे लोकशाहीला खूप घातक आहे.

Green Revolution 2.0 - Green IT

I think, we need one more green revolution, and in current scenario, I would call it as Green Revolution 2.0. This green revolution is not for the renovation of agricultural practices (like old green revolution), but this is to help build environment GREEN to save the only planet where we can breathe, i.e., the Earth.

Everyone talks about the words like Green, Go Green, Think Green, etc. etc…. but what that means? What green means?

The Green initiative means making eco-friendly sustainable environment.  If we are talking about Green IT (Information technology) then it means to make an eco-friendly and sustainable IT.  Eco-friendly IT means an IT which is less harmful for us and environment, and making a sustainable IT which reduces the e-waste. About Green IT, Wikipedia says – “It is the study and practice of designing, manufacturing, using, and disposing of computers, servers, and associated subsystems—such as monitors, printers, storage devices, and networking and communications systems—efficiently and effectively with minimal or no impact on the environment.”  So I must say Green IT is as much about us rather than just a technology. Green IT is also called Green Computing.

There are a lot ways to support Green IT (Green Computing), i.e., to bring Green Revolution 2.0 in IT; I am discussing several of them-

Desktop and laptop computers are the base for IT; however they consume lot electric energy, that’s why power management of personal computer (PC) is the best way to save electricity. Power management includes, switching off monitor when it is idle, putting PC in stand by or hibernate mode if you are taking break from your work, reducing brightness of monitor. A properly power managed PC saves enough energy to power a 75W light bulb continuously for over a year. You can purchase the products which supports Green, processor which supports undervolting to reduce the electric energy. Software like Granola can be use as power management software.

We should adopt the paperless work strategy. This means we must use digital documentation format like e-documents. E-documents includes e-mail, e-bill, e-cash etc etc. Try to make more and more e-documents because if we reduce paper printing, it will save printer papers, electricity, and ink of printer.

Waste management is one the major part of administration and e-waste management is very difficult to manage because e-waste is not properly recycled. If we think computer’s e-waste, then only 50% of computer parts can be recycled. Most of the e-waste is dumped at sea, disassembled by hand, or burned in an open air. These disposal methods are very dangerous for human and environment.  26 US States that have established state-wide recycling programs for obsolete computers and consumer electronics equipment. I came across the shocking statement on ‘Wikipedia’ about e-waste disposal – “computers gathered through recycling drives are shipped to developing countries where environmental standards are less strict than in North America and Europe. The Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition estimates that 80% of the post-consumer e-waste collected for recycling is shipped abroad to countries such as China, India, and Pakistan.”  MoEF should take concrete steps against this. We can purchase such hardware which serves us for long time or we can use our existing hardware as long as we can. This will reduce e-waste and its adverse effects on environment and us. If you want to buy new hardware then buy green labeled or energy star rated products with long term goal. Samsung has taken initiative about collecting and proper recycling the e-waste.

Nowadays, telecommute is one of the blooming concept to make greener IT. Telecommute is the way in which we can work at home rather than going in the office. This reduces greenhouse gas emission related to travel, reduces an overhead cost for office space, lighting, air conditioning, etc.  Use the next generation technology like WiMAX and Voice over IP (VoIP) to support green initiative. WiMAX is a long distance wireless network which reduces the wiring infrastructure. VoIP is the web based telephone which reduces the telephony wiring infrastructure by sharing the existing Ethernet copper wire.

Leading organizations can invest in alternate energy sources like - solar, wind, hydro power, which will balance their carbon secretion and can save the electrical energy. E.g. Google Inc. is using solar energy

Next generation computers like chemical computer and DNA computer will play vital role in the green revolution 2.0. In near future, computers can replace the silicon based chip to chemical or biological (DNA) chips for better performance. This will also reduce power consumption and toxic material produced from e-waste.

Datacenters is the need of the today’s IT world however they produce 0.3% of the world's CO2 emissions. The effectiveness of algorithms has an impact on the amount of computer resources required for any given computing function. This is dependent on designing an efficient algorithm. Well-designed algorithms can be used to route data to data centers. The efficient algorithm can save up to a 40 % of energy costs.

In cloud computing, all data and applications will be saved and accessed from a remote server or a remote data center. This approach will save energy, cost and resources. AT&T funded  Carbon Disclosure Project issued a report, which reveals that, a company that adopts cloud computing can reduce its energy consumption, lower its carbon emissions and decrease its capital expenditure on IT resources.

4 tons of CO2 are eliminated for every server virtualized. That’s why virtualization can play vital role in green computing. Virtualization is the technology that abstracts computing resources and separates out the operating system so that machine can run multiple applications. Virtualization can reduce hardware, energy, and support costs. 

The government has taken initiative about certifying the data centers as green. There are some criteria in government’s regulation which includes using low-emission building materials, recycling, using alternative energy technologies, and other green technologies.

So the bottom line is,

Green IT starts with engineering eco-friendly products and encouraging IT departments to consider more eco-friendly options like telecommute, virtualization, paperless work, power management, reducing e-waste, proper recycling habits and establishing green certified data centers.

Greening our IT products, applications, services, and practices are an economic and an environmental necessity, as well as our social responsibility because we all breathe the same air and live on the same planet
